Reasons Why You Should Get the iPhone 4S

The iPhone 4S has finally been released, and it has already received over 2 million orders, with the number growing faster than even when the iPhone 4 went on sale. A lot of people are disappointed since it's not the iPhone 5 they were expecting (that one's coming in a few months), but it's still a very good smartphone, especially if your contract just expired or you're just buying a new smartphone.

Here are only a few of the reasons you should choose the iPhone 4S over other smartphones:

1. Dual core processor.
The new iPhone 4S has a dual core processor, which means it will provide all the performance you'll ever need. Even iMovie runs on it, and as you may know, that app was specifically released for the iPad 2, which features the same CPU as the new smartphone. While even the single core in the iPhone 4 can perform most of the tasks a regular user needs without problems, the doubling of processing power in the new 4S means that you won't have to worry about performance for years to come.
2. Hardware improvements.
Besides the processor, there are a lot of other improvements in the hardware - the amount of RAM is now 512 MB, the antenna is now a dual array that will provide the best signal ever, and the camera is now 8 megapixels, has a backlit sensor and can shoot 1080p videos in very high quality - those features may be worth upgrading from your current iPhone 3GS, 4 or even an Android phone.

3. Faster data connection speeds.
The iPhone 4 supported only 7.2 Mbps and 2 Mbps speeds on HSPA data connections, which wasn't even in line with all the high end Android smartphones, most of which didn't go below 10.2/5.76 Mbps. Well, the iPhone 4S fixes that and provides support for a comfortable 14.4

4. Mbps download and 5.76 Mbps upload
Tspeeds - more than enough for most people and much better than before (although it's still not 4G LTE - that is reserved for the iPhone 5).

5. iOS 5 and iCloud.
The iPhone 4S ships with the new version of Apple's excellent iOS operating system, bringing along a lot of improvements, both under the hood and on the surface - in fact, it boasts of over 200 new features. The standard apps have been overhauled and now have more features and a better interface, the Safari browser finally received support for tabbed browsing, social integration is tighter than ever, and more. Of course, there's also the integration with iCloud, which allows you to store everything on a remote storage "locker" provided by Apple (with a subscription fee, of course) and sync your files with any other iDevices you have.

6. Siri.
The biggest and most widely covered addition to the iPhone 4S is of course, Siri - the smart, voice operated virtual assistant that is there to help you do things faster and better than before. Apple actually bought Siri when it was an app on iTunes, seeing its potential, but sadly they will be disabling it for iPhone 4 and 3GS users for a competitive edge for the iPhone 4S. But the new Siri is much better, and you can use it to dictate emails, place calls, find directions, search for anything online, search for reviews, create alarms, and much more - all with one touch and your voice!
The iPhone 4S may not be the new revolutionary smartphone that everyone was expecting from Apple, but it's still a very nice upgrade from the first iPhone 4. It's finally able to compete with the top echelon of devices running Android, and with the new unique features, it makes for a great purchase for any Apple fans or anyone who wants a smartphone that is easy to use yet hides a lot of advanced features underneath.

iPhone 4s Review

Today, I will be bringing to you a review of the iPhone 4S so that you can make your own decision as to make the switch to this new iPhone or not when it hit Malaysian shores.

The news about the release of the iPhone 4S instead of the iPhone 5 was received with much disappointment from the die-hard Apple fans worldwide. Even with the disappointment, Apple has managed to sell 4 Million units of the iPhone 4S in the first 3 days of its launch. This is a new record for Apple in terms of iPhone sales. However, even with such impressive sales of the iPhone 4S, it still comes below the expectations of the Analyst which has sent its share price lower last week.
So, what is new in the iPhone 4S you may ask……

From the look and feel perspective, there is hardly any changes except for the left-hand side of the phone which now spots a line. i believe Apple has re-designed the antenna to a dual band aerial design to solve the embarrassing antenna-gate issue encountered in their previous version. With this new antenna design, the iPhone 4S can now intelligently and instantly switch between those exterior antennas, in real-time, even while you’re in the middle of a call and hence minimizing the drop calls. Also, the top one of the rounded keys on the left hand side of the iPhone 4 also acts as the camera shutter button now to make it easier to snap photos with the new iPhone 4S. That is about all the hardware changes there is to the iPhone 4S.
Below are the specifications comparisons of the iPhone 4S vs iPhone 4 :-

So, most of the changes of the iPhone 4S comes from the inside instead of the external. One most significant change is the use of the new A5 processor which has a dual-core A5 CPU. This is the same processor used in iPad2. The processor is clocked at 800MHz and has a 512 MB of internal RAM. With this processing power, you now have an iPhone that has equivalent processing power as a tablet PC i.e. the iPad 2.

The next major change is in its wireless network support, the phone has a dual-mode quadband UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA (850, 900, 1,900, 2,100MHz) and quad-band GSM / EDGE (850, 900, 1,800, 1,900MHZ) ,  Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0 enabled. In layman’s term, all these means that you will likely have access to almost all of the different 3G data network around the world when you are roaming.

There is also some improvement in the back camera. The new iPhone 4S now spots a 8 megapixel back camera with improved optics which is able to shoot better quality photos as claimed by Apple. It can also handle the 1080pixel video. The front-facing camera however remains unchanged from the iPhone 4.
The biggest differentiator of the iPhone 4S compared to the iPhone 4 has to be in the sofware. One of which is the new Siri software which is the built in intelligent assistant that helps you get things done. Now you can command your iPhone 4S to do things with your voice instead of typing. So far, we have been hearing very good reviews about Siri. Not too sure how well it can “understand” our Malaysia slang or English though. If this really works well, this is a major game-changer in the smartphone technology where a smartphone is “smart” enough to understand your verbal commands and executes them without flaw.

For the video review of the iPhone 4S, you may want to watch the video below:-

All in all, the iPhone 4S is hailed as another one of Apple’s greatest product launch. Since when is Apple not doing that. Every new product launch seems to outdo the previous ones.
So, is there anyone out there who is planning to queue up for their iPhone 4S when the device hits our shores…..

With that in mind, i am now eagerly waiting for the next iPhone 5 to come out. It is not rumoured to be launched only in the middle of next year!

The Most Common Complaints About the iPhone 4S

After getting solid reviews hopeful iPhoners have flocked in record numbers to purchase the latest iGadget, but not even Apple's offerings are perfect. The phone has those same iPhone 4S outsides and even better insides, but less than a week after the first phones made it into consumer hands the kinks are starting to come out. Let's take a look at some of the early iPhone 4S issues and how to fix (most) of them.

Subpar Screen Quality

A fresh new phone shouldn't have a jaundiced screen. But proud new iPhone owners have taken to the Apple forums to complain about less-than-bright screens. "Got a new iPhone 4S this morning, and when I put it next to my old iPhone 4 I discovered the screen was much 'nicer' on the old iPhone," writes Snowglider on the forum. "When I say nicer, its kind of got a really yellow tint to the screen on the 4S, whites are where you notice it the most for example the email looks far nicer on the iPhone 4 screen. All other colours look quite washed out," he continues.

This same nasty tint has happened before, points out commenter Michael Bratley. "This came up last year I recall with iPhone 4. I think it's because the devices have literally just been produced. And should get better with time. I've not had chance to look at mine yet," he writes on the forum. Last year's problem had to do with an adhesive that will fade with time, adds Cult of Mac's David W. Martin.

Siri Doesn't Always Work

 Pic from http://www.technovelgy.com/
Siri is the most entertaining feature, but it sometimes has trouble connecting. "Siri is not working at all on my Sprint 32GB Black iPhone 4S," writes Gregory 813 on the Apple Support Communities forum. "Keeps saying 'Sorry Something's gone wrong. Can you try that again?' or 'Uh oh, there's a problem. Can you try again?'" Siri has a popularity issue, speculates another forum writer. "I am going to bet that the servers that handle the dictation and Siri backend are overloaded and they are racing to implement failover servers for all of the unexpected traffic," suggests J. Morris.
