LONDON (AP) — The BBC said Monday that its live coverage of the Olympic closing ceremony was watched by 26.3 million people in the U.K., or more than 80 percent of the country's audience share.

The broadcaster said in a statement that coverage on its flagship terrestrial channel, BBC1, peaked at 26 million on Sunday night, easily beating the previous U.K. audience record for an Olympic closing ceremony — the 11 million viewers who watched the ceremony in Barcelona in 1992. The BBC's high-definition and 3D coverage Sunday added another 300,000 viewers.

The massive television audience was bolstered by 3.9 million people who watched the opening ceremony live on the BBC's website or through its online playback service, iPlayer.

Overall the BBC reported that 55 million viewers had logged on to its sports website over the course of the games, which ran from July 27 to Aug. 12, with an average of 9.5 million browsers for each day of the games.

Sunday's television figures were slightly down on the opening ceremony which kicked off the games on July 27. The Danny Boyle-directed opening extravaganza drew 26.9 million viewers at its height.

The BBC's four main domestic channels are distinct from its international rolling news service, BBC World News, or services such as BBC America, which brings popular British shows such as "Top Gear" and "Dr. Who" to U.S. audiences.

In the United States, the Olympics were broadcast by NBC.

KUALA LUMPUR: London Olympics medallists Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Pandelela Rinong are among guests invited for tea by the British High Commission here in conjunction with the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Malaysia in September.

Simon Featherstone said the High Commission will also be inviting the two lucky winners of "The Ultimate Royal-Tea Competition", a photo contest organised by the commission in honour of Prince William and his wife Catherine's upcoming visit to Malaysia.

The competition which was open to all Malaysian residents was divided into two categories - under 18 and above 18 - by submitting a digital photo of themselves, friends or family, enjoying tea in a creative location, he told a press conference here on Monday.

"Love for drinking tea is something which Malaysians and the British people share," he said adding that the photos will be judged on originality, creativity and quality.

The first 50 entries, as well as 50 runners-up, will receive a caddy of limited edition Diamond Jubilee tea specially created by Boh, and the best photos will be displayed during the tea party, he added.

Featherstone said for more information, the public can visit http://ukinmalaysia.fco.gov.uk/en/ or Facebook page www.facebook.com/bhckl.

The Duke and Duchess will be arriving on Sept 13 for a three-day visit, which include Sabah, after visiting Singapore from Sept 11 to 13 while the couple will then leave for Solomon Islands (Sept 16-18) and Tuvalu (Sept 18-19).

"It will be the couple's second overseas tour following their visit to Canada and Los Angeles last year," he said. - Bernama

Stop 114A — 14 August 2012 Internet Blackout

The DAP would like to fully support the campaign launched by The Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) Malaysia to hold Malaysia’s first ever internet blackout day to protest against the introduction of the Evidence (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2012.

On May 9 2012, the Evidence (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2012 was passed in the Dewan Negara and gazette by the Law Minister last month. We deem the amendment as a blatant intrusion upon the fundamental human rights of Malaysia’s internet users and thus urge the government to repeal this amendment immediately.

Section 114(A) severely infringes upon the freedom of online expression and undermines the civil liberties of Malaysia’s internet users. We believe the amendment may be construed as an attempt by the powers that be to censor and police what can and cannot be said on the Internet. Such regulation passed with an ulterior motive in mind, only serves to undermine the purpose of the internet to disseminate information and facilitate an environment of open discussion.

Due to the broad scope of the terminology employed in the amendment, situations may arise where the act may impair the delivery of justice to wronged parties and even be used to persecute them. Internet subscribers may be held accountable for any comments or content deemed slanderous or offensive published through their internet connection even though it was published by somebody else without their consent. Victims of online identity theft may be charged under the act if offensive content is published online using their stolen accounts.

It is plain for all to see that the act just makes it easier for the prosecution to find scapegoats when dealing with cybercrimes instead of finding the real perpetrators. Under this act, identity thieves, con-artists and hackers will remain at large so long as they ply their trade using an internet connection that is attached to somebody else’s name.

Furthermore, the following sentence “is presumed to have published … unless the contrary is proved” found in Section 114(A) places the burden of proof on the defendant. This runs counter to the principle of law where the defendant is innocent until proven guilty.

The act also openly discourages people from sharing their internet be it access to their internet connections or to the websites they operate. Hotels, restaurants and even cyber cafes will no longer be able to offer internet access to its patrons for fear of falling afoul of the law. This clearly runs contrary to the objective of making Malaysia one of the most “connected” countries in the world.
Thus, we would hereby like to reiterate our support for CIJ's initiative to launch an Internet blackout day on 14 August to voice our protest and dissatisfaction against the implementation of the Evidence (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2012.

Kerat Kote Jika Pandelela Rinong Menang Pingat - Johari Pain

hahahaha...
http://unitmediasiber.blogspot.com/2012/08/kerat-kote-jika-pandelela-rinong-menang.html

Usaha nak kesan profile dia kat Facebook pagi ni tak berjaya… Dia dah matikan akaun dia. Tak ada maklumat yang dapat dikumpul mengenai siapa Johari Pain buat masa ni. Apa pun…persoalan terpenting…BERANI KE JOHARI PAIN MENGERAT ANUNYA KINI?

Kehkehkehkehkehkeh!

Pandelela Rinong Win Bronze Olympic London 2012

Siapa sangka, aku kagum dgb semngt Pandelela ni........ walaupun agak ranking belakang masa 1,2 dive, she still manage to finish 3rd.... kalo x... confirm perak sbb beza ckit jer dgn silver.
LONDON: Pandelela Rinong has created Malaysian diving history. The 19-year-old from Sarawak won a bronze medal in the women’s 10m individual platform event at the Aquatics Centre early Friday.
It was Malaysia's first-ever Olympics medal in a sport other than badminton, besides making Pandelela the first Malaysian woman to win an Olympics medal.

She garnered a total of 359.20 points to finish behind China's Chen Ruolin, who won the gold on 422.30 points while Brittany Broben from Australia won the silver on 366.50 points.
Although diving had promised a medal here, not many had given the team a chance, especially since they had failed in their last six events.
But Pandelela delivered. Her feat also helped the national contingent match Malaysia’s best placing in the Olympics - the silver and bronze won at the Atlanta Games in 1996.

Then, the badminton doubles pairing of Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock won the silver while Rashid Sidek won the bronze in the men's singles.
Pandelela said she hoped her achievement in London 2012 would inspire others to take up diving as a competitive event.
"I am so happy with winning this medal. It is something that I had only dreamt off and now diving can look at it as a turning point.

"I feel that a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders and we can now look forward to better times," she said.
Pandelela started off the final poorly, getting only 58.50 points for her first dive to be placed in 10th spot.
Up to the third dive, she was still in 10th place but her final two dives were well-received by the judges and netted 81.60 and 76.80 points respectively.
"After the first dive, I told myself not to be worried and to stay calm. At that point I was not thinking of a medal at all. I just wanted to do my best.
"I am glad that my routines worked and some of the others registered slightly lower points," she said.

Free Aiskrim Baskin Robbins

Giler kan>>>> aku xsanggup weih.... nk beratur panjang
