KUALA LUMPUR: London Olympics medallists Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Pandelela Rinong are among guests invited for tea by the British High Commission here in conjunction with the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Malaysia in September.

Simon Featherstone said the High Commission will also be inviting the two lucky winners of "The Ultimate Royal-Tea Competition", a photo contest organised by the commission in honour of Prince William and his wife Catherine's upcoming visit to Malaysia.

The competition which was open to all Malaysian residents was divided into two categories - under 18 and above 18 - by submitting a digital photo of themselves, friends or family, enjoying tea in a creative location, he told a press conference here on Monday.

"Love for drinking tea is something which Malaysians and the British people share," he said adding that the photos will be judged on originality, creativity and quality.

The first 50 entries, as well as 50 runners-up, will receive a caddy of limited edition Diamond Jubilee tea specially created by Boh, and the best photos will be displayed during the tea party, he added.

Featherstone said for more information, the public can visit http://ukinmalaysia.fco.gov.uk/en/ or Facebook page www.facebook.com/bhckl.

The Duke and Duchess will be arriving on Sept 13 for a three-day visit, which include Sabah, after visiting Singapore from Sept 11 to 13 while the couple will then leave for Solomon Islands (Sept 16-18) and Tuvalu (Sept 18-19).

"It will be the couple's second overseas tour following their visit to Canada and Los Angeles last year," he said. - Bernama
